The LOSS & UNCERTAINTY module offers an efficient and structured way of calculating losses and uncertainties for a wind farm project to reach a bankable level. It also includes annual production at exceedance levels between P50 and P99.

Losses
The module helps calculate and document key losses in wind farm projects. Built-in loss types include:
- high wind hysteresis
- temperature controls
- wind sector management
- custom curtailments
You can also add site-specific losses like tree growth, performance degradation, and icing.
All losses are grouped by international standards and clearly reported.
Uncertainties
Accurately assessing AEP uncertainty is key to evaluating project risk. The module groups uncertainty components by origin and allows input for up to 12 parameters.
Key uncertainties from horizontal/vertical extrapolation are estimated using EMD’s global project experience. Power curve uncertainty can also be calculated in line with IEC 61400-12 standards.
Bias Correction
In complex terrain where models like WAsP may fall short, the module allows you to apply RIX-based corrections to address flow model biases. RIX values can also be calculated in PARK and imported directly into LOSS & UNCERTAINTY.
Integrated Energy and Environmental Data
LOSS & UNCERTAINTY works with a PARK calculation and can also pull data from METEO (e.g. time series), DECIBEL, and SHADOW for calculating environment-related losses.
You can either enter values manually based on experience or use detailed algorithms to calculate site-specific losses and uncertainties. Known measurement issues and RIX values from PARK can be used for bias correction, and any curtailment data is automatically imported for full alignment.
Comprehensive and Clear Reporting
Get a full overview of losses and uncertainties — for the entire project or individual turbines. The report includes key figures, visuals, and summaries of major components, along with assumptions used.
Detailed calculation reports and WTG-specific data can be exported for further analysis in other tools.
