SITE COMPLIANCE calculates the main checks required in site suitability assessments according to the IEC61400-1 standard, ed. 4 (2019), ed. 3 (2010) or ed. 2 (1999). For each main check the module evaluates if a wind turbine class (e.g. IIA) is suitable for the actual site and layout conditions.

Comprehensive IEC Compliance Checks

The SITE COMPLIANCE module performs all the key evaluations required by the IEC 61400-1 standard (Editions 2, 3, and 4). It assesses whether selected wind turbine classes (e.g. IIA, IIIA) are suitable for your project site — helping you flag risks early and design compliant, cost-effective layouts.

Key assessments include:

  • Terrain complexity
  • Extreme wind
  • Effective and extreme turbulence
  • Wind distribution and shear
  • Flow inclination
  • Air density

All checks are calculated per turbine and easily compared across methods to test sensitivity and ensure the best-fitting model approach.

If any IEC checks are exceeded, the standard requires load calculations. Combine SITE COMPLIANCE with the LOAD RESPONSE module to validate turbine suitability through fast and precise response surface-based load assessments — delivering clear, per-component load indices.

These models define wind field variations (wind speed, turbulence, inclination), allowing accurate calculation of site-specific conditions.

Users can also assign individual IEC design classes or apply flexible custom "Class S" models to each turbine in the layout.
