Words from the CEO
We have celebrated several 20-year anniversaries in the past few months, which is always a key milestone to celebrate. We highly value our staff and appreciate the amount of knowledge we continue to build in cooperation with our new staff.
With the recent weeks heatwave rolling over Denmark and the rest of Europe, we know summer time is fast approaching. Many years ago, this meant we were entering a slower period at EMD, but at the moment there are no slower times at our office, and we stay open all summer.
Despite our staff taking time off during the summer months, we are not closing down entirely – our sales and support are open as usual, so please do not hesitate to contact us.

windPRO 4.3 beta:
For over a month, hundreds of our users have been beta testing the newest version of windPRO. We appreciate all the feedback and look forward to releasing the new version in September 2026.
energyPRO 5.1 service pack is out
We have just released a new service pack with demo features that make it significantly easier to understand, present, and share your project results.
Sankey Diagram (Beta)
Energy flows, visualised. The new Sankey view in Reports lets you see exactly where energy goes across your project - by year, month, week, or day. You can reorder nodes by dragging, adjust scaling to handle mixed units (MWh alongside kg of hydrogen, for example), and copy the diagram straight into Word or PowerPoint. Finally, a way to make complex energy systems legible to stakeholders.
Dashboard (Beta)
Build a custom results overview that reflects what you care about. Pin your headline KPIs, add charts with the data series and time resolution you choose, resize and reposition everything freely, and link charts so they step through time together. You can save a layout and import it into another project - handy for teams working across multiple assets.
Quick Guide
New to energyPRO? The Quick Guide (File → Home → Quick Guide) walks you through project setup step by step - demands, storages, conversion units, markets, payments - in the right order, with tips along the way. We've heard the feedback on onboarding. This is our answer.

vectIO launching soon
We are looking much forward to launching our new software, vectIO at the end of summer 2026.
vectIO is a web application that supports operators of energy plants in planning and optimising daily operations.
Using a plant-specific model, automated data updates, and advanced optimisation methods, vectIO continuously calculates the most efficient operating strategy. It also generates electricity bids to maximise the economic potential of your assets.

New UK & Ireland Sales & Support agency
Paul Hannah has decided to step down from the role as our sales and support agent. His last day in office was June 30, 2026.

New Data Services released in early 2026
We have started the year with several online-data releases in windPRO expanding coverage, improving accuracy, and enabling better renewable energy modelling worldwide.
When will ERA6 replace ERA5?
ERA6 is now in production at ECMWF - and we are 100% ready. The next generation reanalysis promises a massive leap in resolution and data quality… but just like us, you will have to wait: the first ERA6 data will not arrive until late 2027.

UK OS Terrain 50 (2025 release)
The latest UK elevation dataset is now available, featuring standardized grid formats and up-to-date terrain information. This ensures consistency and reliability for projects across Great Britain.
Rwanda 10 m DEM – advancing open data in Africa
We have introduced Rwanda’s first nationwide, analysis-ready elevation dataset. Optimized for wind and solar applications, it supports everything from resource assessment to infrastructure planning -marking an important step for open geospatial data in Africa.
Upgraded Denmark elevation data (DHM)
The new DHM dataset delivers significantly improved terrain accuracy (down to ~5 cm vertical precision) and flexible resolutions from 0.4 m to 20 m. This upgrade strengthens the foundation for reliable wind modelling across Denmark.
Complete elevation coverage across the Kingdom of Denmark
With the addition of high-resolution datasets for Greenland and the Faroe Islands, windPRO now offers full terrain coverage across the entire Kingdom. These datasets provide detailed DSM/DTM models, ready for analysis and seamlessly integrated - making project development in even the most remote regions more accessible.

Consulting services
We have now welcomed Linn Laurberg Jensen as Head of Consulting. Linn is already a known face at EMD since she began her career here as Team Lead for the energy systems department.
Our consultants have been busy attending conferences, exhibitions and our recent workshop at WindEurope’s Technology workshop.
We experience a high interest in battery storage in addition to wind and solar parks. We can help you visualise all of them. New 3D models are available in the windPRO library - batteries, transformer/inverter units, substations, and more.

We are already preparing to attend the 12th Conference on Smart Energy Systems in Copenhagen, WindEnergy Hamburg in Germany and Dansk Fjernvarmes Landsmøde in Aalborg during autumn.
