What you will learn
- What is special about energy yield calculations offshore
- Influence of waves and tide
- We look at different scenarios concerning location and data availability
- How to use data from floating LiDAR technology
- Access to mesoscale data, time series and wind resource maps
- Calibration of mesoscale data as well as long-term correction (MCP) of local LiDAR data
- Accessing and using mesoscale data offshore
- How do you include terrain when all you see is water?
- We will run calculations in three specific scenarios: No data are available, poor or non-local data are available and good local data are available
- Optimise offshore wind farm layouts based on two different criteria: maximise Annual Energy Production (AEP) and minimise Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) using cost maps
- Offshore relevant losses: wakes, curtailment and performance losses
- How to deal with uncertainties? The uncertainties that can be calculated and those that are harder to assess
