Who should attend?
The course is aimed at windPRO users interested in learning how to do noise impact assessments.
Prerequisites:
BASIS course windPRO
What you will learn:
- Introduction to wind turbine noise calculations
- Noise data management in windPRO
- How to run noise calculations with a focus on the ISO 9613-2 standard and the advanced Nord2000 model
- Terrain and meteorological parameters in noise calculations
- Managing background noise and external noise sources
- Working with multi-dimensional noise curtailment binning.
- Noise curtailment optimization
What NOT to expect:
Energy production and environmental impact calculations outside noise impact calculation will not be addressed in this course. While noise management overlaps into the fields of layout design, loss assessment and wind farm feasibility, these topics are only addressed as they relate to noise calculations.
What you will learn (details):
- Learn how to run a noise calculation in windPRO
- Learn how to provide the input data for noise calculations, from wind turbine noise data to specifications on noise receptors and the noise propagation model
- Adapt the noise model to the local noise code and present the results in reports and tables.
- Get a deep dive into noise models and parameters
- We will primarily work with the parameters of the ISO 9613-2 and the Nord2000 noise model
- Manage background noise sources
- Look into the wind direction and wind speed influence on noise calculations
- Include terrain effects like reflections and barriers in the calculation
- Learn about noise curtailment and how to optimize it.
- Introduction to the curtailment matrix
- Learn how to run a noise curtailment optimization while minimizing production losses.
