Shadow Flicker and Visual Assessment
Who should attend?
The course is aimed at windPRO users interested in learning how to perform shadow flickering assessments (SHADOW module), create visibility maps (ZVI module) and photomontages/animations (PHOTOMONTAGE, ANIMATION modules).
Prerequisites:
BASIS course windPRO
What you will learn:
- How to run a shadow flicker simulation in worst and real/statistical case, including generation of a flicker map
- Calculation of shadow curtailment
- Identify spots from where WTGs are visible (ZVI), taking topography and obstacles into account
- Prepare accurate and realistic photomontage and animation of a wind farm
What NOT to expect:
Energy production and noise calculations will not be addressed in this course. Photomontages for PV plants are covered by the PV SOLAR course and not this one.
What you will learn (details):
- Zone of Visual Influence (ZVI)
- Learn how to provide the input data for ZVI calculations, including obstructive objects
- Get familiar with the ZVI options to calculate visibility maps, also for subtended angles
- Learn how to perform a SHADOW calculation
- Going through the input data for SHADOW calculations, including the different options to define Shadow receptors and types of obstructive objects
- Define the SHADOW calculation both for worst and real/statistical case and learn how to assess the different resulting output
- Define a simple curtailment strategy to reduce the flickering time at receptors (to fulfil the limits)
- Photomontage of wind farms
- Recommendations about photography for photomontages
- Practice the calibration of the camera object using several options to ensure the best accuracy
- Learn about the different rendering options
- Perform an animation of the wind farm
