Who should attend?
The course is aimed at windPRO users interested in learning how to make initial financial evaluations of wind, PV and hybrid projects including BESS in day ahead spot market.
Prerequisites:
windPRO courses - BASIS, EYA, SolarPV energy yield. Basic understanding of techno-economic analysis.
What you will learn:
- Analyse and evaluate financial feasibility of wind and PV plants
- Optimize grid capacity
- Optimize the operation of a BESS in day ahead market
- Optimize behind-the-meter solutions together with BESS and time shifting of power production/consumption
What NOT to expect:
The following are not addressed in this course: evaluation of revenues from participation in more electricity markets such as intraday and regulating markets.
What you will learn (details):
- Evaluate Financial Feasibility: Learn how to assess the financial feasibility of combining different energy technologies like wind, solar, and storage.
- Maximize Revenue: Understand how to integrate electricity market prices, behind-the-meter consumption, and storage solutions to maximize revenue, optimize system performance, and reduce dependence on the grid.
- Combine Technologies: Discover how to combine wind, solar, and storage technologies to model a hybrid power system using time series data from various sources
- Optimize Self-Consumption: Explore behind-the-meter optimization strategies to boost profitability by using electricity where and when it's most valuable.
- Determine Ideal Sizes: Learn how to determine the ideal sizes for wind farms, solar PV arrays, and energy storage units to maximize return on investment.
- Understand Economic Landscape: Include subsidies, loan repayments, interest rates, and cash flows to fully understand the economic landscape of your project.
- Compute Financial Metrics: Use the integrated cost model to compute key financial metrics such as LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy), IRR (Internal Rate of Return), and NPV (Net Present Value).
- Assess Electricity Prices: Incorporate spot market price time series to determine the value of your power production at each moment, helping decide whether to sell to the grid, store energy, or consume on-site.
- Simulate Battery Storage: Learn how to simulate how battery storage affects power availability and financial performance, optimizing energy usage during low production or peak demand periods.
- Perform Time Series-Based Calculations: Understand how all energy production and financial calculations are based on time series data for power output, energy demands, and electricity prices.
