Who should attend?
The course is recommended for windPRO users interested in learning how to perform energy layout optimization.
Prerequisites:
BASIS and EYA Courses, or experienced users with good understanding of the: BASIS module of windPRO (UI, object details, object layers, etc.), METEO module, and energy calculations in windPRO.
What you will learn:
- Setting up the area and neighbours
- Loading Resource Maps/Result Layers
- Cost models in windPRO
- Setup and run the OPTIMIZE module for onshore optimization for different objectives
- (AEP, LCOE and NPV) and situations
- Comparing different turbine types, hub heights and sizes
- Create new optimized layouts or optimize existing ones
- How to choose the best locations with fixed positions (X out of Y)
What you will learn (details):
1. Entering the First Constraints
Learn how to define the areas to be used for the wind turbine positioning.
- Ways to add and edit available areas/land plots
- Ways to add and edit the exclusion areas
- Define buffer zones and the initial constraints for each area
2. Resource Maps
Load a Resource Map.
- Learn how to import a resource maps and handle Result Layers
3. Cost Models in windPRO
- Find out how to add costs that can be used for the optimization, but also in other modules like PARK and HYBRID
- Learn about Cost Maps
4. OPTIMIZE
- Setup an energy optimize session
- Understand the different objectives (AEP, LCOE and NPV)
- Comprehend the tree structure of the module
- Discover how to easily compare different wind turbines, hub heights and sizes
- Create new optimized layouts starting from scratch or from an existing layout
- Find the best subset: very useful for optimizing with fixed positions
What NOT to expect:
Detailed energy production calculations/environmental impact calculations/site suitability will not be addressed in this course.
