After 37 years of being responsible for a decisive development of the wind turbine industry in Denmark as well as in the rest of the world, CEO and founder of EMD International A/S, Per Nielsen, has chosen to retire and hand over the role to Vice CEO Christian Ingerslev SΓΈrensen, who took over the CEO [β¦]
Discover the Autumn Update of energyPRO 4.9! Weβre thrilled to announce the latest release of energyPRO 4.9. The spotlight feature: OPTIMIZE! With OPTIMIZE, you can now perform sizing optimization for energy conversion units and storage components within your model, empowering you to make more informed decisions. But thatβs not all! Weβve added the ability to [β¦]
ERA5 reanalysis data is used as a key source in many of our renewable energy applications β and it is surely also a major component within windPRO climate and mesoscale datasets. Since this summer β more recent data has been made available at an earlier time since the data-delivery in some cases has decreased from [β¦]
windPRO now includes an option to run WakeBlaster, a new wake model. WakeBlaster is a numerical solver of the 3-dimensional Reynolds averaged Navier Stokes equations, specialized in wind turbine wakes. But what is new? No more superposition: Instead of modelling single turbine wakes and superimposing them empirically, WakeBlaster models the whole waked wind field in [β¦]
Several parameters are missing from the ECMWF delivered ERA5 pressure-level data-files needed as input boundary-data for the EMD-WRF modelling. The unfortunate consequence is, that the data-update for the month of September will be delayed. We are currently in dialogue with the ECMWF support about this error and when they expect to have it resolved. Currently [β¦]
The New European Wind Atlas (NEWA) is a high-resolution mesoscale dataset that was modelled and provided by the NEWA consortium. NEWA was established as an ERANET+ project with a total budget of 13.1 million euros and it was executed over the years 2016-2019. One of the project outcomes was a comprehensive mesoscale model with a [β¦]
GASP is a free (CC-by-4.0) global dataset in 250m resolution of resource, siting parameters and expected wind turbine design classes β further details on the GASP dataset can be found here. windPRO 3.5 provides easy download of GASP data as resource files, which include the siting parameters, that can be used in park calculations as [β¦]
Tired of delaying your analysis while waiting for high-quality mesoscale reference wind data to become available? As wind analysts we are relying heavily on high-quality reference mesoscale data as βvirtual meteorological mastsβ in ongoing campaigns or monthly status reports; but we have also been used to waiting some months for data from the best mesoscale [β¦]
