Words from the CEO
When the year comes to an end, it always makes you reflect upon what has happened during the year and what to expect from the new year to come.
2025 has been an exciting year - we have successfully participated in several projects worldwide, released new versions of our software packages, hired new members of staff and even experienced a cyber attack, which accelerated the reveal of our new branding identity.
Most of our staff have participated in a GTD course as well as a cardiac arrest course while others were Prince2 certified.
Product highlights
windPRO
In September we released windPRO version 4.2. It is packed with new tools and enhancements to make your wind, solar, and hybrid project design more efficient and insightful.
This version builds on the familiar and trusted interface of windPRO 4.0 and 4.1, while introducing significant improvements in:
energyPRO
A new version is on its way in the new year, and we look forward to launching further improvements and presenting the many possibilities the software package includes.
energyPRO is more than just an energy modelling tool - it is a powerful solution designed to optimise and analyse a wide range of energy projects.
Whether you are working with district energy, hybrid systems, or Power-to-X technology, energyPRO provides a comprehensive approach to energy planning, optimisation and decision-making.
energyTRADE becomes vectIO
Another exiting news is the launch of our new product vectIO – a new tool built on well-established technology.
vectIO is a web application that supports operators of energy plants in planning and optimising daily operations.
Using a plant-specific model, automated data updates, and advanced optimisation methods, vectIO continously calculates the most efficient operating strategy. It also generates electricity bids to maximise the economic potential of your assets.
New & updated data services in windPRO
High-quality climate and terrain datasets are fundamental to reliable wind energy planning. Easy access to these resources is a cornerstone of efficient project execution, providing consistent, long-term insights essential for accurate assessments and confident decision-making. With windPRO, you have seamless access to multiple datasets, giving you more options to address uncertainties. Notable data releases this year include:
The Copernicus Regional Reanalysis for Europe (CERRA) dataset in windPRO now includes data up to 31 July 2025. This delivers even more validated, Copernicus-backed climate data for wind resource assessments, second-opinion studies, and uncertainty modeling, offering a strong alternative to traditional WRF-based datasets such as EMD-WRF Europe+, NEWA, and NORA3, which are also directly available in windPRO.
Full high-resolution elevation datasets are now available for all of Germany. We have also integrated updated 1 m resolution DSM and DTM data from Landesvermessung und Geobasisinformation Brandenburg (LGB).
Released in November, GEDTM30 is the first globally available Digital Terrain Model in windPRO. This 30-meter resolution model provides a consistent, bare-earth representation of the planet’s land surface by removing buildings and forest canopy influences.
Key milestones for Consulting
We worked on several large-scale hybrid projects - about 500 MW wind and 1,700 MWp PV plus battery storage - focusing on optimising system design under grid constraints. This includes balancing wind and PV capacities and sizing battery storage (BESS) to reduce grid limitations and improve revenue. We also offer analysis of battery trading on different markets, which ties directly to new features in energyPRO.
We are proud to have supported Arcadis in an offshore transaction for Hornsea 3, set to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm. Arcadis acted as Technical Advisor, providing due diligence for Apollo-managed funds on their agreement to invest in a 50% stake in Ørsted’s Hornsea 3.
Once operational, Hornsea 3 will deliver 2.9 GW of renewable electricity - enough to power over 3 million UK homes - marking a major step in the UK’s energy transition. Our role included a long wake assessment, contributing to this landmark investment.
